Despite several early reports that the new stimulus checks will use the same income caps as the first stimulus payments made earlier in 2020 the upper phase out limits have in fact been reduced.

The measure contains a 600 direct payment to americans who earned up to 75 000 in 2019. This makes sense as the program is designed to help those most in need of an income boost. The payment is up to 1 200 for individuals and 2 400 for married couples who file jointly.

The first round included a 1 200 payment from the coronavirus aid relief and economic security cares act which was signed into law last march and now president trump has signed a second 900 billion economic relief package on december 27 that includes another stimulus check paying up to 600 per person. A couple filing jointly or someone whose spouse died in 2020 with an agi of up to 150 000 would receive 1 200 600 per eligible person.
